CeDAR Connects Alumni Newsletter

June 15th, 2023 | Volume 23

We don't always know what we're healing from until we begin to actually heal. I recall once hearing "I had to sober up to understand my alcoholism" and nothing has proven to be more true for me. Healing begets more healing which is why this recovery thing isn't just a destination, but an enduring journey. It is a journey that, as we move forward, becomes less about recovering from substances and more about recovering the person we lost to addiction while discovering the person we are growing into through recovery. It's worth the ride.
Head Shot
Who wants to grab coffee?! I am available to meet virtually or in-person local to CeDAR. This is a great opportunity to talk about anything you may need recovery support with. Schedule a Coffee Talk and I'll bring you some CeDAR swag, too!

There's an App for That:

No really, there's an app for that. Well, in 6-ish weeks there will be which is when we are slated to launch our very own app exclusively for CeDAR Alumni. This app will serve as a hub for resources, information and connection. There will be a library of books, podcasts, videos as well as a step-work guide and meditation log. This is huge for those who aren't on social media and also an opportunity for those who have been inactive to reengage with the program.

Featured Meeting:

Because sometimes there's just some sh*t you need to Say Out Loud, which is what our alumni support group has organically come to be known as. In this group, held every Friday at 1pm on Zoom, we empower YOU; to lead, to share, to challenge, to ask questions and most importantly, to seek support. The SIOL group is an intimate group encouraging cross-talk and feedback. It's an open-format with a reading at the beginning and intention-setting to close. All are welcome!

Your Online Hub:

The best resource for alumni and the entire CeDAR community is CeDAR Central. Here, you can find current meetings, activities, service opportunities, recovery resources & more. Please let us know your feedback!

Meeting Field Trip:

As part of the CeDAR Alumni Program, we routinely organize meeting field trips to check out different recovery meetings and events together as a group. Our next meeting field trip is June 20th to Girls Gone Sober AA meeting at the Southeast Aurora Club. If you have a a field trip suggestion, let us know!

Sober not Somber:

In this feature we highlight upcoming activities within the recovery community. There's some really fun events coming up this summer!

Supply Drive!

We are running a supply drive for Pawsitive Recovery, a local non-profit who finds foster homes for pet whos humans need to go into treatment. Send supplies directly to CeDAR or drop-off to the bin in the vestibule at CeDAR. The drive will continue through June. Click here for list of needed supplies.
