CeDAR Connects Alumni Newsletter

Listen, I am a Colorado native so know good and well that we are in "fool's spring" and I have to say even with knowing that, I am celebrating longer days and warmer temps (never mind today). This has felt like a symbolic winter in that, for many of us, we reached the completion of cycles that come in the form of relationships, commitments and even physical life. Reaching the end of such cycles can create chaotic upheaval, for we are on the brink of the unknown. We can feel exposed, much like the trees when they shed

their leaves. We feel the only thing we can do is hunker down and endure until we are ready to step out into a new season touting the kind of new growth that can only come from dormancy. This process happens in the natural world every single year without fail yet we often question our own process of emergence. This has been one of the greatest recovery lessons I've learned that though I may wander into a season of darkness, I am always guided toward the light of another. Hang on. We're almost there.
Who wants to grab coffee?! I am available to meet virtually or in-person local to CeDAR. This is a great opportunity to talk about anything you may need recovery support with. Schedule a Coffee Talk and I'll bring you some CeDAR swag, too!

Sober not Somber:

In this feature we highlight upcoming activities within the recovery community. If you have any recovery-related events to put on the calendar, let us know.

All Paws In!

It’s no surprise that we, here at CeDAR, love what PAWSitive Recovery is all about. If you aren't familiar, they are a local non-profit who helps to find foster homes for dogs and cats whose humans need to go into treatment. Turns out, pet boarding is a huge barrier to care for many. Serena Saunders, founder of PR, recognized this barrier and sought to fill the need. The demand has been great. To help support this amazing and oh so needed program, CeDAR Alumni have decided to organized a supply drive to help support the pets of PAWsitive Recovery. We are looking to launch the drive the first week of April. You are welcome to drop donations off at CeDAR or you can mail items to CeDAR. To help make the drive a success, we are looking for folks who would be willing to transport donations from CeDAR to south Aurora, where PR is located. Reach out if you have questions, want to donate and/or want to be a transport volunteer. To check out the PAWSitive Recovery feature, previously ran in CeDAR Connects.

Beyond the supply drive, PAWSitive Recovery could use help through fostering, pet sponsoring and pet transportation. Check out
Pawsitive-recovery.com to get involved!

Programming Update:

We now have Alumni Programming seven days a week! Big win.
  • Shelf Indulgence Book Club has moved to Sundays at 6pm on Zoom. They are starting a new book this week, Be Here Now by Ram Dass. If you'd like to join but aren't able to purchase a book, you may download a free PDF of the book or ask me for a loaner.
  • We are welcoming back Kelly Miller, The Addiction Nutritionist, for a virtual seminar on April 12th at 7pm. Kelly will teach us about the biochemical root causes of addiction and the nutritional strategies that can help you improve mood, reduce cravings and prevent relapse. There are many nutritional tools that can directly impact your experience with PAWS (Post-Acute Withdrawal Syndrome), so that you can thrive in recovery instead of merely surviving your recovery. Sign-up for your free ticket through Eventbrite here.
  • Annnnd, Unity is back in action! Unity is a unique all-recovery support group for the LGBTQIA community including allies. This meeting is open to the greater community so please share!
